The importance of a ducted HVAC unit and its maintenance

Ducted HVAC systems are a popular way to maintain temperature in residential and commercial properties. And when these systems are first installed, they work well. They regulate indoor temperature and offer fresh air to occupants.

Older systems that haven’t been correctly maintained however could prove to be more of a hindrance than anything else.

How does it work?

The air flowing through your HVAC system is a mixture of room air and fresh, outdoor air. The ratio of these two air supplies is controlled using dampers inside the system’s air handling unit.

Is it expensive?

It’s said that a commercial building can expect 40% of their total energy bill to be from their HVAC system. Obviously this depends on you and your circumstance. If you live in warmer climates you might not use it as much, or you may have other methods of warming and cooling your property.

How do you maintain your system?

Most ducting systems have filtration technology installed. So dust and other debris that enter the air stream can be picked up. It’s important that these are cleaned regularly to ensure an optimum performance from your system.

Despite the filtration system though, materials do build up over time. These build ups could contain allergens, moulds, bacteria and fine dist that will adversely affect the air quality in your building.

Here at Ducting Online we offer ducting supplies for extraction, heating, ventilation and air conditioning units. So if you need to upgrade your system, install a new one or improve the efficiency of your current system, we can help.
